Oracle grant 2025

CAF Awarded Grant from Oracle to Support STEAM Instruction for the 16th Year

We are pleased to announce that Oracle has awarded Carlmont Academic Foundation (CAF) with a $20,000 grant for fiscal year 2025. Since 2010, grants from Oracle have provided support for rigorous STEAM teaching and learning by equipping classrooms with cutting-edge equipment and instructional resources designed to promote critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. This year’s grant will support the Biology, Biotech, Chemistry, Human Biology, Physics, AP Physics, and AP Environmental Science courses.

The grant from Oracle will provide for classroom resources such as:

  • Alu PCR and Chopped! CRISPR kits will give 900+ Biology and Biotech students hands-on experience with DNA amplification and gene editing, preparing them for careers in biotechnology and genetic research.
  • High-speed microcentrifuges will expand students’ ability to purify DNA and proteins, enabling advanced molecular biology experiments in Biotech courses.
  • LabQuest 3 and colorimeters will support nearly 500 Chemistry students in precision experiments on gas laws and solution concentrations, improving data analysis skills.
  • Go Direct Motion Detectors and Photogates will enhance Physics labs for 345 students, enabling real-time data collection for motion, velocity, and acceleration studies.
  • Stethoscopes will allow 87 Human Biology students to monitor blood pressure and heart rate, providing real-world experience in cardiovascular health and medical diagnostics.
