CAF FUNDRAISING UPDATE – May 2020:

We are all living a new reality.  It’s everywhere we turn: in our own homes, in our stores, in our media feeds. And although we are still separated physically, we are stepping up together to face the challenges of this new reality.  The reality facing CAF is the possibility that we won’t be able to fund Carlmont programs at the same level we have in the past.  And we think our students deserve next year to be as normal as possible.  That’s why we are asking for your help on Giving Tuesday, May 5.  Our goal is to raise at least $130K, so that we can be sure to fund our most basic programs, and ensure jobs for our talented staff.  Ideally, we’ll raise $200k by June 30th to fund everything we funded last year as well.  You can find more details on what CAF funds below.

Goal 1: TO FUND CARLMONT'S MOST CRITICAL PRIORITIES
Raised already!$130,000
Save the 17 Class Sections CAF funds
Save the additional Counselor added this year
Save College & Career Center assistant

Goal 2: TO FULLY FUND CHS AT THE SAME LEVEL AS LAST YEAR^
Additional Needed
$75,500
After School Tutoring
AVID
Choir Support
College Essay Support
Cross Departmental Collaboration
PSAT for Sophomores and Juniors
Teacher Minigrants with PTSA
^This funding will allow us to remain flexible. Last year CAF funded these positions, but it is becoming clear that next year might not look like what we are used to. CAF is working with the Carlmont Administration, the District, and other Education Foundations to be ready to adapt as needed so that Carlmont kids get their best possible high school experience.

Given the state’s budget forecast, some budget cuts seem likely, and any help that CAF can provide to temper the impact will be invaluable. I can’t say enough great things about the work that CAF does, and the incredible impact that their fundraising has on what we are able to offer here at Carlmont.  If you are able to donate, this is an opportunity to unite around a cause we care about and services we rely on.  I personally am planning to donate and I’m looking forward to getting my Scots Strong sticker.
