We are pleased to announce that Oracle has awarded Carlmont Academic Foundation (CAF) with a $20,000 grant for fiscal year 2026. Since 2010, grants from Oracle have provided support for rigorous STEAM teaching and learning by equipping classrooms with cutting-edge equipment and instructional resources designed to promote critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. This year’s grant will support the Biology, Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, and Physics courses.
The grant from Oracle will provide for classroom resources such as:
- Biology: All working lab partner pairs will have a microscope to practice general lab skills and look at cells. With these resources, students will be able to identify different stages of mitosis.
- AP Environmental Science: Students will view water samples for assessment and particulates to monitor air quality; they will work on a self-sustaining ecosystem with monitoring that requires dissolved oxygen probes and aquarium test strips.
- AP Biology: Students will use conductivity probes to assess cell size and conductivity of samples
- Chemistry, AP Chemistry, and Biotechnology Institute Chemistry: The grant provides dehydrator ovens to gather meaningful data in analysis and gravimetric labs.
- Physics and AP Physics: The grant provides a Mechanical Waves Exploration Kit, allowing students to study resonance and how it affects buildings in earthquake-prone locations.
- AP Physics C (Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism): Students will use oscilloscopes to investigate the properties of circuits.
