Dear Carlmont Families,

Attending the Bagpiper Bash was a great way to kick off the new year, visiting with friends old and new. If you weren’t able to make it, definitely plan for next year! It was a blast.

Thanks to your generous donations last year, the Carlmont Academic Foundation was able to further reduce class sizes by funding more class sections than ever before, bringing the total number of class sections funded to a total of 17! This results in both more class choices for all students and also lower teacher:student ratios in core classes.

Do you have a freshman? How is the transition going? Make sure your student knows about the before- and after-school tutoring center funded by CAF. There, students will find teachers and peer tutors to help them with any subject that needs a little extra attention.

This month, thanks to CAF funding, all sophomores and juniors will be taking the PSAT. This allows our students valuable practice in preparing for the SAT or ACT and offers opportunities for merit scholarships for juniors.

We are also quite proud of what is happening in the College and Career Center. Fall is a busy time of year for Carlmont seniors who are deciding what to do after graduation and juniors who are just getting started on their college searches. The counseling department helps both seniors and juniors identify their college or career objectives. CAF funds the College and Career Assistant and one-on-one application essay assistance for seniors available through the College and Career Center.

At the end of next month, CAF will participate in Giving Tuesday, an online day of giving. We hope you will join us in supporting Carlmont students on November 27 this year.

Every student matters. Every dollar matters. What you give makes a difference.
